Lots and Lots
Ah … July – time to relax, put your feet up and enjoy
the lazy days of summer! Maybe not at Santa Teresa Hills
Presbyterian Church. Summer this year is filled with all sorts of
happenings. In June we had Vacation Bible School where 45 young
children and 20+ adults learned that “Jesus Makes a World of
Difference.” We had Bible Studies, Bunco games, Movie Nights, and
graduations.
And this month we don’t slow down one little bit.
Every Friday night this month we will be watching the movie we will
be talking about on Sunday. July 7th we’ll see “Harry
Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” July 14th it’s “The
Apostle” starring Robert Duvall, July 21st we’re going to
see “Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings” which I believe is
the middle movie of that trilogy, and then on July 28th
we’ll watch the movie “Saved!” – a delightful comedy – I think (I
haven’t seen this one yet).
Sunday, July 30th, once again we will be
heading down to Santa Cruz for “Worship at the Beach.” This year,
if the beach is not your cup of tea, not to worry – we will still
have a regular worship service in the sanctuary at 10:00 a.m.
But that’s not all. There are more Bible Studies, a
San Jose Giants baseball game, maybe another WORK PARTY, the Men’s
Breakfast and Fellowship on the second Saturday, and of course, V A
C A T I O N S …. Yea!!!!
This summer DeLynn and I are going to Italy,
courtesy of my father (what a great way to spend our inheritance!)
with my siblings and their spouses. We will take a cruise and then
explore the countryside of Italy. I will be gone from Saturday,
July 8th through Wednesday, July 26th. We are
so blessed to have Dave Robertson and Paul Elliot and Ken Jones to
lead us in worship while I am gone. Ken Jones has graciously agreed
to be the pastoral presence during my absence. If you have any
pastoral care needs, please contact Ken. Ken’s phone numbers are:
778-6612 (h), 272-6484 (w), and 592-3342 (c). You can also contact
Ken via his email address at: kendall.jones@hcahealthcare.com.
I hope that this is going to be a summer filled with
gracious surprises, fun filled adventures, and lots and lots of
love. And maybe you’ll even get a day (or more) to put up your feet
and just relax.
We are most truly blessed here at STHPC to have a
church family that is active, involved, committed, caring, and
engaged. Let’s make the most of it!
Be blessed, have a great summer, and as always …
I’ll
see you on Sunday (okay, probably only on the 2nd and 30th)
Pastor
